Donaldson håber, at bogen måske kan interessere bl.a.
Jerichaus marmorskulpturer.

Dear Madame Jerichau

I have today dispatched by railroad a parcel to yr. excellent Husband, containing a book I have just published, called “Architectura Numismatica”, treating on the architectural medals of classic antiquity. I have requested him to present it on my part to the Academy of Fine Arts; & I trust it may interest one or other of its members (possib[l]y Mr Hetsch) to turn over its leaves & work at it[.] // I have recently taken Mm. Donaldson to Switzerland Milan & Venice[.] We were absent between 5 & 6 weeks & I leave you, who are so alive to all the beauties of art, to judge of our mutual delights, as we feasted our eyes with all those works of the great Masters, that we saw in the two latter cities.
I have again called upon Mr. Hawkins at the British Museum, & spoken to him about Mr. Jerichau’s marbles. // It does not appear that the Justees have, as yet, come to any decision on the subject. Mr. Newton, formerly in the department of Antiquities at the British Museum & for some years part Consul at Mytelene, during which period he has been prosecuting researches for arte justies at Halicarnassus & elsewhere in Greece, is about to go to Rome as Consul, & is now in London. Mr. Hawkins mentioned, that he would get him to inspect the marbles & perhaps in conjunction with Gibson, report on them to the Government. As Mr Newton is a friend of mine, I am to see him on the subject. // Your letters are always so acceptable, that we shall be delighted to be favored with a few lines from you, when you are at leisure. We both unite in Kindest regards to your excellent Husband & hope all yr children are quite well.
I have now (safe & sound) yr. picture of the shepherd Boy & sheep, which was exhibited at the Royal Academy. I only wish, that it were in the collection of some eminent Passion of art, who had purchased it.
            Believe me dr. Mm. Jerichau
                   Most truly yrs.
                        Tho. L. Donaldson
